Elementary season 3 review

Let’s get to another random post of this blog as you can expect one more for sure this year and maybe nothing else besides that. I will be talking about and reviewing the third season of the show Elementary. Let’s get to the review. 

Season 3 overview: On the surface, it seems that not much might have happened in this season. But what was known for sure is that Kitty was introduced and she had a big influence on the first half of this season, only to not be relevant for the rest of it. She did appear in future seasons.

How this season was different from others: This did have the airing delay of Thursday Night Football pushing its premiere to later. I do not believe that we saw many reruns of the show as a result. But as for what actually happened on the show, we saw more of an important side character in Kitty while also delving a bit more into other back stories in the show.

What made it good: The show dealt a lot with more serious issues at times throughout this season. We saw a lot regarding substance abuse in this and it also dealt with the serious topic of rape as well. There is not much else that can be said there.

What made it bad: This season didn’t have much of a point during its second half as it just went around from place to place without much purpose or point to it in the end. Some of what happened was quite unethical and Sherlock knew it, but didn’t prevent it from happening.

More thoughts on it: It was long enough ago to not remember as well what all might have happened as it aired versus what I can read about it later online. It might be a better season than I might be giving it credit for, but it is hard to tell for sure. At least the first half was good to watch. This was the last season to go without a major new character in the cast.

That’s all worth mentioning for this post. I wouldn’t know what else is worth saying about it in the end. But I do know that this show is good and worth blogging about. We’ll see if I ever get this on DVD, but with all that I have to catch up on and do for other blogs and even vlogs on my YouTube channel, then it doesn’t make as much sense to do much regarding this now. We’ll see what I might be able to do with it in the future. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King review

I’m just going to start this review by stating that this is my favorite part of the trilogy. For those who think that The Two Towers is the best, then don’t be disappointed. A lot of the book, The Two Towers, is covered in this movie. I’ll get to more of that at the end of this review. But let’s get to this movie and we’ll get to why it is important for this blog.

We begin rather simply with two people fishing in a boat. Well, two hobbits, really. One of them is Semagol. The other one finds the ring in the stream after a fish takes him out of the boat. Both of them become ensnared by the ring and they start to fight over it. Ultimately, Semagol kills the other one other this and slowly loses his humanity or hobbitity as I should say. He took it into a cave. 

Back in the present, Frodo takes out the ring that is a huge burden on his neck. Semagol tells Frodo and Sam that they must go at once. The others in the company see Merry and Pippin there. They talk to Treebeard and talk some about Sarumon who they say is locked in the tower and powerless. Pippin sees something in the water and Gandalf takes it from him. It is the seeing stone.

The company returns to Ederas in Rohan. They celebrate their victory. Gandalf is convinced that Frodo is alive, although there is still no word officially. Gollum talks to himself and reveals his plan to the others about sending them up the stairs and having an unknown she take control. He doesn’t like to eat orcs as they don’t taste very nice, although I’m not sure how or why Gollum would know that. Were they dead at the time? Sam notices Gollum talking to himself saying that he wants the hobbits dead. But Frodo wants to use Gollum still and doesn’t believe that Gollum is evil.

Back in Ederas, Legolas and Aragorn talk outside while Pippin takes the seeing stone from Gandalf, much to the chagrin of Merry. Sauron sees Pippin with Legolas, Aragorn, and Gandalf all alerted to this right away. Aragorn briefly holds the stone before Gandalf covers it. In fear, Pippin tells Gandalf what had happened and revealed nothing of the ring or Frodo. He also saw a glimpse of Sauron’s plan.

Gandalf gathers some of the company with King Theodon and now knows that Sauron plans to strike the city of Minis Terith. Theodon is reluctant to help. Aragorn wants to go right away, but is told by Gandalf to go through a different route. Gandalf rides out with Pippin, but Merry stays behind.

Arwen was still heading to the Undying Lands until she sees a vision of a son that she has with Aragorn and she returns to her father Elrond in Rivendale. He says that this future is almost gone, but since it is not lost, she has a hope for it. She wants the sword that Isedor had to be remade.

Gandalf and Pippin arrive at Minis Terith. Gandalf tells Pippin about a lot of things not to talk about and just settles on him not speaking at all. But this plan is dashed when this steward of Gondor, Denathor, holds the horn of his dead son Boramir. Pippin decides to pledge his loyalty to this man in payment of the sacrifice that Boramir made for them. There are some tense words as Denathor doesn’t want to defend the city like he’s supposed to. He also doesn’t want Aragorn to return to the throne that he belongs to. Gandalf is worried that if things don’t go their way, it will be the end of Gondor as we know it. I feel fine. It’s time I find myself alone.

Continuing to talk about what is currently going on, Gandalf reveals that the witch king (who?) is the deadliest servant of Sauron and was the ringwrath that stabbed Frodo back in the first movie. He says that Osgiliath could fall which would then open up the city they are in now for attack. This will be the great battle of their time.

While he is talking, Frodo, Sam, and Gollum approach Minis Morgol and the draw of the ring winds up almost sucking Frodo into this place. The others pull him back and a bunch of orcs start to march from this place. Gollum leads them up the stairs.

We then return to Osgiliath and the attack by the orcs that are taking place. They come two if by sea. Faramir and various others start fighting back against the orcs. Wasn’t there still a battle going on in this when we last left these people in The Two Towers? Is it the one that is still going on? Is this another wave of orcs that are coming then?

Gandalf convinces Pippin to light the beacons and all of the people who just happened to live in all of the various places that they need to with not one of them missing a link in the chain thankfully light all of the signals throughout the day and night and next day it seems? Aragorn notices this and goes to run into the hall where he tells Theodon about this with a bunch of other people around. I’ve always felt that this is kind of a dick move like a public proposal where he is now being pressured to say yes. And Theodon does say that Rohan will answer with their aid. I do wonder if the timeline makes sense. If this is supposed to be the same day, why were shots of the beacons being lit shown at night then? Is there some jumping around in the timeline?

With Osgiliath being overrun by orcs, the men are told to leave for Minis Terith and thus retreat. The nazgul show up to join the attack, although I’m not sure where they were this whole time. It does make sense if this battle were still ongoing from the last movie since the ringwraths would have been among those occupied by the fighting and not the ring itself escaping. While the nazgul seek to follow the men who are returning to Minis Territh, Gandalf uses his powers to prevent them from following. Pippin is on this ride as well as they never filmed a version with just Gandalf riding out when they moved the arrival of the pair to earlier in the story. But it is good that Faramir saw Pippin as he reveals more of what had gone on with Frodo and Sam since these are other hobbits that he saw recently.

Lots of things happen in the meantime. Frodo, Sam, and Gollum continue up the stairs as the orcs continue marching towards battle. The distrust between Sam and Gollum grows stronger while Frodo might soon turn on Sam. The orc leader talks to the witch king about taking out Gandalf. Pippin pledges his loyalty to Denathor while Denathor wants his son to retake the lost city with other men too.

Gollum frames Sam for eating the rest of the bread, putting crumbs on his shoulder and throwing the rest of it to the bottom. This leads to a huge fight. Sam offers to take the ring for a while, something that Gollum had warned Frodo that Sam would do. Did Gollum know that such a thing would happen if he played his cards right? Frodo tells Sam to go home. Frodo and Gollum continue up on their own without Sam joining them yet.

Gandalf doesn’t want Faramir and the others going off into this battle, but Faramir wants to do this in order to earn his father’s respect since Denathor wishes that Faramir had died instead of Boramir. The steward seems disinterested in everything, eating food while Pippin sings to him as the men that go out to reclaim Osgiliath are quickly slaughtered with Faramir’s fate currently unknown.

The people from Rohan encamp near a mountain. The path into it isn’t a place that people return from as the mountain is evil and none who enter it ever returns. I feel like any time this happens, you are basically telling the audience that someone in the story will go there and then return. Eowen wants to train Merry who wants to fight, but others doubt that he can provide much help.

Aragorn wakes up and sees Elrond here. Arwen is dying somehow. But the hour is come. Elrond reveals that ships will be coming from the south to attack Gondor. Elrond wants Aragorn to go to the people in the mountain to bring them to their side since no force would be able to withstand them. Elrond also reveals that the sword was remade, meaning that he can summon them.

Eowen doesn’t want them to leave on the eve of battle. Aragorn is joined in his task by Legolas and Gimli. They think that he is leaving because there is no hope. Theodon admits that there might not be any hope, but they are still to meet their enemy in battle nonetheless. He wants Eowen to lead in the event that he is to die. But she still feels that there is more she can do.

Legolas goes through the story of how Isealdor cursed the men who didn’t fight for Gondor and that is how they are cursed. Aragorn does not fear death so he goes through the doorway even though the way is shut since the dead made it and keep it. Legolas quickly follows and Gimli reluctantly joins not wanting to be known as a dwarf who wouldn’t go underground when an elf would.

Meanwhile, Merry is almost left behind, but Eowen in disguise (a fact that was secret in the book for a while) takes him with them and the rest of them. Aragorn and the others arrive in the city of the dead. It doesn’t appear at first that he is getting help from them. The company is surrounded and has no way of fighting them. That is until Aragorn reveals that he is the king of Gondor and he wants them to join him in their fight to hold their oaths fulfilled. The scene ends here with any answer as to whether or not these men will fight yet unknown.

Sure enough, it seems that all of the men from the fight at Osgiliath died, but Pippin notices that Faramir is still alive. Denathor is convinced that his line is dead. Upon seeing the hoard of orcs that are starting to fight the battle and thinking that Rohan betrayed them, Denathor tells people to flee. But Gandalf takes charge and orders the citizens to fight. The men of Rohan catapult parts of their own city against the orcs as the orcs attack the people as well. Pippin tries to fight too, but is told to leave by Gandalf.

Frodo is sent into a tunnel since the only other option was to turn back. It is a scary place that he is now at with Gollum not taking him far from it. He uses the light he got from Galadriel to see a big spider in this area that he’s at. While this is going on, Sam notices the bread from earlier and turns around to go help Frodo. Gollum reveals his true colors, trying to take the ring from Frodo.

When Frodo gets the edge in the fight, Gollum says that it was the ring that made him attack Frodo. This is when Frodo reveals that the ring must be destroyed, which causes Gollum to attack Frodo and then fall. But I know enough from watching these movies that just because a character falls, doesn’t mean that they are dead. Also, this did not happen in the book. Frodo seems to have lost his will to continue for a bit until he sees a vision of Galadriel there and continues.

Back in Gondor, Pippin sees that they are preparing to burn the body of Faramir. Gandalf continues to lead the fight against the orcs who have breached the wall. Frodo continues on his path forward and the giant spider is able to sting Frodo before quickly wrapping him in a web. Sam shows up, wanting Frodo to be let go. I’m glad that Frodo wasn’t being held above something high when Sam said this. The two of them fight some until the spider retreats at his magical light. Sam looks at Frodo but he doesn’t seem to be alive anymore. Sam notices the sword glow blue, meaning orcs are around. Sam leaves Frodo alone and the orcs take Frodo away. But Frodo is revealed to be alive. What happened to the ring?

Pippin tries to convince Denathor that his son isn’t dead. Denathor releases Pippin from his service. He then seeks to find Gandalf. The orcs have set fire to the city. Gandalf tells them to retreat to the second level. This is when the company from Rohan shows up. The orcs notice this and prepare to fight. King Theodon rallies the troops by giving an inspiring speech. The orcs fire and them while the men charge. I don’t know why the orcs just stood there the whole time. Maybe they went to the Power Rangers villain school of fighting others.

Pippin finds Gandalf and they seek to go to where Denathor is. Denathor seeks to kill himself as well. Pippin is able to save Faramir. Denathor sees that his son is alive and catches fire. He is able to run all the way from the room he was in while on fire all the way to the top of the building which he jumped off. Now the fighting continues down on the ground with the men from Rohan having made quite an advantage when more of the villains show up to fight includes lots of oliphants.

Back in the battlefield, Gandalf talks about how death is just the beginning of a new adventure. The witch king attacks Theodon which causes his horse to fall on top of him. Eowen fights against this person as she cuts off the head of the fellbeast. She battles with this nazgul in the meantime.

The ships arrive in the meantime and it is Aragorn who shows up with Legolas, Gimli, and the entire ghost army joining the fight. Merry assists Eowen. She is told that no man can kill him. She’s not a man and she stabs him in the face, taking him out. Legolas takes out an Oliphant and the people who were riding on it. Gimli is not that impressed by it. Theodon talks to Eowen some before he dies. The ghost army was able to win the battle at hand. Gimli wants to use them further, but Aragorn still decides to hold their oaths fulfilled and they all fade away. Pippin sees Merry in the battlefield.

We then return to where Frodo is, bound and held captive by the orcs. They fight over a shirt. Frodo notices that the ring is missing. This does lead to infighting among the orcs here. Sam is then seen there approaching where Frodo is at. He sees others already beaten. He fights against others. Sam arrives to save Frodo and untie him. This is when we learn that Sam has the ring. Indeed, in the book, he was known to have taken the ring and even used it while Sauron was distracted by the battle at Minis Terith. Sam seems reluctant to give the ring back, having possibly been ensnared by it in the short amount of time that he has had it. But Frodo takes it back.

Needing clothes for Frodo, both he and Sam wind up dressed like orcs to blend in. Gandalf admits that he cannot see Frodo. Gandalf thinks that Frodo could be sent to his death. Aragorn suggests that he and the others should go to the black gate to fight against Sauron as a distraction against what is going on. But he still wants to do this to obtain victory for Frodo. The orcs move to the black gates as do Aragorn and his company of fighters. Frodo and Sam move, having magically changed clothes at some point in time. The eye seeks to find Frodo and the ring before focusing back on the ensuing battle.

It seems like the heroes are getting surrounded by the orcs. Why would they willingly do that? And we also see Frodo and Sam continuing to make their way to Mount Doom. Sam carries Frodo since he can’t carry the ring for Frodo. Frodo sees a vision of darkness that Sam seeks to get rid of. The big group of heroes fights for Frodo. Gollum reappears and fights against Frodo and Sam. The ringwraths appear in the fight while the eagles finally return to the story. What is this? Eagle ex machina? Frodo is able to potentially destroy the ring, but resists the urge to do so. Instead, he puts the ring on. This alerts the eye and the ringwraths to what is going on.

Gollum comes out and takes out Sam some. He tussles with the invisible Frodo for the ring, biting off part of Frodo’s finger for it. Gollum winds up with the ring. Frodo fights for it back leading the two of them to go over the edge. Only Gollum and the ring fall into the fire with Frodo hanging off the cliff above the lava below. The ring takes a while to be destroyed, leaving the eye to fall and explode with the tower instantly crumbling beneath it. The nazgul die as the volcano erupts. Frodo and Sam quickly get out of the area, but seem like they might die before too long. Frodo talks about how the ring is gone. The orc army winds up defeated in the meantime through an earthquake like event as the ground winds up crumbling beneath them.

Gandalf is somehow able to get on an eagle as they rescue Frodo and Sam. The rest of the company is able to reunite. We then see a crowd of people gather for the crowning of Aragorn as king of Gondor. Gandalf is able to do this although I don’t know how he had this authority. Aragorn reunites with Arwen as they kiss. The four hobbits are told that they bow to no one. They return to Hobbiton.

Unlike the book, this Hobbiton doesn’t know anything about the fight that happened as the longer ending to the story isn’t in the movie. Indeed, we never find out what happens to Sarumon unless we watch the extended editions which I plan to cover later. Sam winds up marrying Rosie. Frodo writes the story about what happened to him and the others in a book. He adds it to what Bilbo wrote. Sam sees the book and says that there is room for more in the book. Frodo says that his wound from Weathertop never truly healed. There is one last journey for Bilbo. Bilbo even mentions the ring that he doesn’t know was destroyed, possibly being overcome with a type of dementia.

At the harbor, Biblo says that he is ready for another adventure as the elves seek to take him to the Undying Lands. Gandalf is with them, as is Galadriel and Elrond. The four hobbits are there as well to see them off. Frodo is revealed to be leaving the others behind. Frodo gives Sam the book, saying that the last pages are for him. The other hobbits tearfully say goodbye to Frodo. After they sail off to the Undying Lands, Sam returns to his family at the Shire. His part of the story will go on as he’s back. And that is how the story ends.

As stated before, this is my favorite of the Lord of the Rings films. In fact, if I were given 24 hours to live, I would watch this film again during that time. I love the ending. I may get sad at the end because the movie is over, but it doesn’t matter too much as I can and will just watch the movie again. Besides, some of us know that sad is happy for deep people.

This one has a lot changed from the book, although the biggest change is what was delayed from the second book to this one. Shelob, the giant spider, is the end of The Two Towers book from Frodo’s perspective with Sam’s story continuing on from there starting his half of the book. It does take place during this same time frame as stated in the book as the battle at Minis Territh was going on at the time that Sam was going after the captured Frodo. Gandalf’s and Pippin’s arrival at Minis Territh was also the start of The Return of the King book with other details seen in this movie having been delayed until later as well. But I think that Peter Jackson is right and it works better this way.

There is a reason that this film swept the Oscars. I do feel a bit bad for all of the films that competed against it as only the films that weren’t in the competition against this film won Oscars. I feel that this film more than deserves what all that it got and I encourage everyone to watch these films if they have not seen them already. I also hope that people like it who read the books as there still might be a bit of animosity between these purists and the changes that the movies made (although it did much better in some ways then The Hobbit did). But I love this film and recommend that everyone sees it at some point in their life. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers review

Some consider this to be the best movie of the trilogy. I do not feel that way. But I do like this better than the first movie. I won’t go into too much detail about why this one has issues at time that makes it not the best movie in the trilogy for me, but I will go into the next review of this movie series.

We begin back with Gandalf fighting the Bel-rog. He falls down and uses his sword to attack the beast and keep up the fight past what we had seen in the last movie. They fall to the water below and the battle cuts off with Frodo seeming to have dreamt it.

Frodo and Sam continue to Mordor, feeling that they are lost on their way to getting there. They stop for food, having only lamis bread. They don’t think that they are alone, smelling something that makes it seem like they aren’t. Sure enough, Gollum shows up and attacks them. But they knew that something would happen so they instantly fight back. They gain the upper hand and talk Gollum as a captive. He begs for mercy and to serve them. Sam is skeptical of the deal, but they continue on. 

Meanwhile, Merry and Pippin are alive, but being held captive by orcs. Merry is a bit injured. The orcs catch the smell of men, leaving Pippin to leave a mark for them. Sure enough, Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas continue on their trail and sees the mark that Pippin left, learning that they might still be alive. And Legolas points out the now famous phrase, “They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard.”

Saurmon continues his threat to rule Middle Earth. He incites violence against those who oppose them, starting against those from Rohan. The king’s son is injured in a battle. They bring up concerns to the king, telling them that Saurmon is attacking them. But Grima, a man speaking for the king, winds up banishing Emour, the king’s nephew, from the kingdom.

Merry and Pippin are put in a dark place near a place where trees are said to come alive. The orcs are there for the night. The orcs want to eat the hobbits, or at least part of them. This leads to one of them getting killed and the others seek to resort the cannibalism. But a group of men come out at start to kill the orcs. The scene cuts short here for now as we skip to the next day when Legolas talks about how blood must have been spilt this night.

Seeing riders of Rohan, the company of Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli seek to find help. But they soon get surrounded. The people talk to Emour who talks about how King Theoden of Rohan can’t tell who is good or bad. He warns of a white wizard who walks here and there, like a stranger in the night. The company gets two horses from the old riders who died in the fight as they say that all of these orcs are dead now with no sight of any hobbits with them. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli then go to where the bodies are burning. At first, they are very frustrated at what looks like certain death of the hobbits. But then the expert tracker, Aragorn, notices that the hobbits ran into the forest, away from the battle of the orcs that was at hand.

Skipping back in time, the lone orc pursues Merry and Pippin. The two of them climb a tree. It seems like the orc is gone, but it still attacks them. Pippin notices a tree come to life and winds up in its grasp. This tree kills the orc and gets both of the hobbits in each of his hands. He explains that he’s an ent and not a tree. He climbs to be without a side in the fight as no one is on his side. He doesn’t believe that Merry and Pippin are hobbits as he isn’t sure that they are real. This ent named Treebeard leaves their fate in the hands of the white wizard.

Meanwhile, Gollum leads Frodo and Sam through a marsh. He explains that the marshes have dead people in the water and he is warned not to follow the lights. Frodo gets mesmerized by one of them and winds up falling into the water. Gollum saves him from this fate by pulling him out. At night, Frodo wants to know more about Gollum’s past, saying that Gollum or Semegal might have been like a hobbit at one point in time. He reacts to his old name. That is when black riders, the ringwraths, show up on flying creatures. This is when we learn that they are alive, although only one is in this scene.

While wandering through Fanghorn forest in search of Merry and Pippin, Legolas reveals that the trees are talking to each other. But they aren’t trees. They are ents. The three of them seek to quickly fight against a glowing wizard and are told of the fate of the hobbits who are told that they didn’t expect to meet someone. That is when we see that Gandalf is alive. He fought with the Bel-rog, somehow going from the water that he fell in to the top of the mountain. He did not die, but was brought back. He says that he is now Gandalf the white, seeming to forget that he was Gandalf at all or at least was grey instead of white. The now four of them continue on their quest.

Treebeard is shown with Merry and Pippin walking through the forest. We then go back to Frodo, Sam, and Gollum. They see the black gate of Mordor. A group of people are walking there as it opens. Sam looks to find a way down, but falls. Frodo goes after him. Sam is buried waste deep in rocks as two of the people approach. Frodo is able to hid then in his cloak that looks like a large rock and is able to get these people to walk away. Gollum prevents the two of them from leaving, warning that Sauron wants the ring back, perhaps wanting the ring for himself. He reveals that there are stairs that they could take instead of the black gate. Frodo trusts Gollum, but Sam has his doubts.

Gandalf takes the company to Ederas where the king lives. It doesn’t look like much. His niece tells him that his son is dead. But Theodon doesn’t seem to react at all. Grima seeks to comfort this woman, but she sees through his ruse. She notices the company coming there. Gandalf warns the rest of them not to look for welcome here. Gimli even thinks that graveyards are more cheerful.

They arrive at where the king is and the company has to surrender their weapons. Unlike the book, this happens quite quickly. Gandalf keeps his staff as a walking stick of an old man, something that this man doesn’t question at all. While Grima seeks to tell Theodon that Gandalf isn’t welcome, the wizard then reveals his staff and then white form. He seeks to draw Sarumon out of Theodon. Despite claiming that he would kill Theodon, the king is revealed to be safe and reverts back to his true form that we have not seen before. I am never not impressed by that, even knowing what was coming.

Gandalf seeks to remind Theodon of what happened by drawing his sword. Theodon wants to kill Grima, but Aragorn prevents this. Grima leaves quickly, somehow getting a horse that could have been stolen. Theodon then realizes that his son is dead. Gandalf seeks to comfort Theodon.

Two kids are seen arriving there. They were briefly seen earlier. Gandalf warns of the wrath that is going on because of Sarumon. Gandalf wants him to fight Sarumon head on. But Theodon orders them to retreat to Helms Deep. Gandalf does not like this idea. He leaves, seeking to return at the light of morn on the fifth day in the east. Aragorn talks to Eowen, the niece of Theodon. She wants to fight. He also lets a horse go from this place. Grima, who is now with Sarumon, tells of what Theodon would do which leads Sarumon to send out the borg riders.

Frodo tries to defend Gollum while getting upset at Sam. Sam realizes that the ring is making Frodo turn evil and start to sound like Gollum. Meanwhile, Gollum talks to Semegal as Semegal seeks to banish his other self. He grabs food like rabbit, but doesn’t like how Sam prepares it. Frodo notices a company of people walking by where they need to be. Gollum calls these men wicked. They see an Oliphant. This is when a group of men attack the bad men. But these other men take the hobbits away. Gollum had slipped away at some point during this time.

The group of people walk to Helms Deep. Aragorn thinks about Arwen. He thinks about their love thus far and how she wanted him to be with Frodo. But we return to the moment as they learn that they are under attack by the warg riders. Eowen is told to lead the people to Helms Deep. This attack was not in the book, but does add a bit of a layer to the story that we wouldn’t get to see otherwise. During the fight, Aragorn fell off a cliff. An orc tells the others of this. They see the Evenstar that Arwen gave him in the hand of the orc.

Eowen is upset that few have returned. A lot is shown happening at once. Saurmon works on a plan to take Helms Deep by working on an explosive and also gathering a large army of men. Pippin, Merry, and Treebeard notice the smoke from Isengard. Arwen is told by Elrond to leave for the undying lands as even victory would lead to the death of Aragorn and her mourning. Aragorn is picked up by the horse that was let go earlier. He is alive. Elrond has a mental communication with Galadriel who was the main elf woman from Lothlorian. They think about helping those at Helm’s Deep.

Frodo and Sam are seen with a man revealed to be Foramir. This is the brother of Boramir who wants to know why his brother is dead. But they did not know of such a thing happening. Foramir reveals more of his purpose with the group of people that he is with. They show the geography of Middle Earth and reveal more of the stakes at hand. Despite saying that Gollum wasn’t with them at first, Frodo has to reveal more about him since Gollum faced death otherwise. Gollum’s life is saved, but it seems that he is angered at Frodo since it wasn’t handled well.

Meanwhile, Aragorn sees the approaching army as he makes his way to Helms Deep. He warns the people when he gets there and they prepare for a fight. Theodon thinks that they will strike against this fortress like water on rock, apparently unaware that water beats rock. I can’t blame him as Pokémon does not exist in Middle Earth, although there is a Gollum. Legolas thinks that they will lose as they are badly outnumbered going into the fight. The army should arrive at nightfall.

Before the fight begins, an army of elves arrives to honor their commitment to helping men that they had a long time ago. All of the men, some of them young, are sent to fight. The women and children are put in a special place of the fortress at hand. We also lose a subplot of Eowen helping to deliver a baby that is not even in the extended edition, but you can sort of see that moment in the final cut of a woman in pain and Eowen looking relieved.

Pippin and Merry try to convince Treebeard to help fight against Isengard by getting the ents to attack the city in question. The fight goes on at Helms Deep with Theodon tempting fate. The orcs do wind up succeeding in blowing up the wall and getting into the fortress. Merry wants to convince the ents that they are part of the war. Pippin is told that they would be glad to go home, while Merry is convinced that there won’t be a home if they lose. Things at Helms Deep are looking grim. While Aragorn and Gimli prove a distraction, the orcs are still breaking through, getting further into the fortress.

While Treebread is taking the hobbits back home, he is convinced by Pippin to go south to Isengard. This is where they are taking the hobbits to. To Isengard, to Isengard. While on the way there, Treebeard sees a lot of his old ents and now dead, being burnt up by Sarumon. This makes Treebeard call ents and they go to war.

Meanwhile, Faramir has taken Frodo, Sam, Gollum, and the ring to Osgiliaf where he seeks to use the ring to his advantage by joining it to his side. The city is already fighting and under siege. The Nazgul show up to attack as Frodo gets more warped in his mind, seeming to lose his sense of self.

While still defending Helms Deep, they realize that the light is rising and Gandalf will return. Theodon is fighting with Aragorn and the others. I admire a king who fights, but should someone that important be on the battlefield? The men fight against the orcs. Aragorn sees that sure enough, Gandalf has returned with the riders of Rohan who were last seen heading north. This changes the tide of the battle.

The ents fight strong against the forces of Isengard. Not many are there to defend the location as the orcs and others were sent to fight at Helms Deep. The ents destroy the dam which releases the river. This does not take out the tower, but does cause a lot of damage.

Back at Osgiliath, Frodo is almost controlled by the ringwrath into putting the ring on. Sam breaks his friend out of it, only to have a sword pulled on him. Frodo snaps out of it. Sam references the fact that they shouldn’t be here, which is a reference to the fact that they never went here in the book. Sam then does an inspirational speech about the stories of the world. There is hope in the world worth fighting for. Faramir seeks to let the hobbits go, willing to forfeit his life and making the decision not to seek the ring further, being the better person than his brother was.

Gandalf realizes as he and others go to where Sarumon lives that the battle for Middle Earth has only just begun. The fate of Middle Earth rests in the hands of two hobbits. As they walk on, Gollum believes that Frodo betrayed him and wants an unknown her to take care of the problem as he wants to take the ring for himself. Mt. Doom is seen in the background as the quest continues and movie ends.

Those who know the books know that a lot still has to happen, but those events were pushed back until the next movie in the trilogy. It seems like the movie ends pretty well and I like it, although it still is not my favorite Lord of the Rings movie. The next one is. I still like this movie pretty well and have all of the movies covered in my top ten greatest movies of all time. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Cast Update 5-3-2021

This blog will be exclusively on Mondays for the near future, possibly the rest of this whole year. I am doing a lot of random posts for this month and one for the next month and then I’ll be done for a while unless someone in this blog from Elementary dies. I can only hope that such a thing doesn’t happen, but I’ll explain more in the next post which is going to explain the new things in this blog going forward.

 

Jonny Lee Miller: It seems that he currently has only one project that I know of in the work. It is a movie called Nine Lives. I’ll keep track of anything else that I see him doing in the future. He also appears to be in a movie called Settlers. Another movie that he will appear in is Alice.

 

Nine Lives: This doesn’t have a release date or a trailer just yet. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with cats. It’s a science fiction movie about a team of humans having to work with clones (I think) all in outer space somewhere for some reason.

 

Settlers: This is set for release in 2021. I’m not entirely sure that this isn’t the same movie as the previous one and imdb is confused. I will keep this as separate for now as I’m not sure what’s happening with this just yet at this point in time. I have no idea what is going on with this project right now as I can’t tell if it is out yet or not.

 

Alice: This has an unknown release date right now. This could be a horror film or might be based on reality. A slave escapes only to find a shocking discovery nearby. I’d have to see a trailer to know for sure what genre this might be. Only there’s none yet and it could reveal more to this film that I’d want to know. Guess that I’ll have to wait for now.

 

Lucy Liu: I saw based on promos that she is in a show known as Why Women Kill. It turns out that she will also be in other projects. One is called The Last Weekend in May. I have no idea when that last project would be set for. Another thing that she will be in is called (at least for now) Untitled Workplace Comedy that I hope gets a name soon in the future.

 

Why Women Kill: This is a CBS all access series that is available already. I can pretty much guess based on the title what this might be about. I probably won’t be able to watch it unless I can see it for free at some point in the future.

 

The Last Weekend in May: There is no release date for this yet. There also isn’t a trailer or even a plot. If I had to guess, a significant point of this movie relates to the end of the month of May. That might even be a good time to release this movie if they wanted to. If June 1^st is a Sunday, then which weekend would the last one in May be? I don’t see this on imdb anymore.

 

Untitled Workplace Comedy: This is set to air on ABC. The release date is currently unknown as of this time. I don’t quite understand the plot as currently written on imdb as it seems poorly phrased in some places. Best I can understand, a diva boss changes who she is after an adoption with her assistant becoming a mentor. I just hope that this doesn’t burn off during the summer. We’ll see what becomes of it later as things move along.

 

Aidan Quinn: I thought that given his limited role in the final season of Elementary that we might be seeing less of him. Well, it turns out that I was wrong. He will be doing different things. For one, he will be part of the movie Butterfly in the Typewriter that Desmond Harrington will also be in. He will also be in a miniseries called The American Guest. He’ll also be in The Gettysburg Address, which I find unlikely since that already happened in the 1860s. He’ll also be in Spiked.

 

Butterfly in the Typewriter: From what I understand of the plot, an author struggles to bring a story to life in this movie. I don’t know yet if it is based on a true story. It could be very Meta if you know what that means. It has no release date yet.

 

The American Guest: This is a miniseries that will air sometime in 2019. It might be international, which means that I might not be able to see it as a result. The plot is unknown as this time, but a potential spoiler about it relates to the role Aidan plays in it: that of Teddy Roosevelt. I have no idea if this is out now somehow or not.

 

The Gettysburg Address: Apparently they are going to milk the whole address into a movie. This seems like a weird choice since Lincoln himself in the address said that people will little remember what they say today. There is no release date yet for this.

 

Spiked: This has a DVD release timeframe of May 25, 2021. The plot is about issues relating to a small town murder and the feud between a police chief and journalist in that town. It could be interesting, but cliché. This will be on the USA Network. It could be good if I see it. It is based on a true story. Here’s a trailer for it:

Thoughts on trailer: It is hard to gather as much from the trailer as I would like, but it does seem to be an interesting looking movie. I look forward to potentially seeing this and can only hope that this is interesting despite the trailer not being that detailed.

 

Jon Michael Hill: While he might do something after the show in good time, there is nothing that I see him doing right now as of yet. I will keep this section phrased like this until he does something that is worth putting down in here.

 

John Noble: He has a lot of projects in the work, so I might as well get to mentioning all of them. One is called Silencio. Another is called Nameless. A different one is called Stream. Yet another is called Guardians of Luna. I wonder if they’ll all get made. He’s also in something new called Call Waiting. Yet another thing he appears to be in is Home Invasion. I wonder what all he’ll show up in randomly.

 

Silencio: This was in Mexican and not American theaters. It has a plot mentioned of someone looking for a powerful stone. It has a DVD release time frame of November 2021. I hope to review it when it is out on DVD. It might only be on blu ray and not DVD.

 

Nameless: This could be interesting. It has no release date or trailer just yet. The plot relates to lost souls facing struggles with their past. It seems like it could be a good film, but it is hard to tell or know yet for sure. It seems like it could be good.

 

Stream: In this movie, telepathy is made possible, but it could have unforeseen outcomes. This seems like a possible basic premise for Downsizing with a different element of sci-fi used instead. There is not yet a trailer and there’s no release date yet. It only lists his role as rumored, so the movie could wind up happening, but not have him in it.

 

Guardians of Luna: This plot might be hard to keep track of. So there are werewolves that are part of a cursed town and there’s a war on humans potentially. It has no release date yet nor a trailer. But it does sound pretty interesting.

 

Call Waiting: This is has no plot listed yet. It’s year of release is unknown at the time. I guess that we will find out later what will happen with this and what the plot of this short might be. Until then, I guess we’ll just wait and see what will happen with it.

 

Home Invasion: This TV series has little that imdb is revealing thus far. I don’t know what network it would be on. I just know that it will have at least six episodes. It has no release date right now. I must not know a potential plot yet. Check out my facebook group, Firefly: Where are They Now? This might have more updates on this in question since Morena Baccarin is in this as well. Hopefully, something will come of this.

 

Desmond Harrington: He is set to appear in a movie called Butterfly in the Typewriter, which I’ll explain in the next paragraph. There’s not much else that he is known to be doing right now. Maybe he’ll do more in the future. I’ll wait to see what it could be.

 

Butterfly in the Typewriter: I can’t tell yet if this is based off of a true story or not. I do know that it is about the struggles of an author to bring a comedy story to life. It has an unknown release date at this time. I guess we’ll see what comes of it later.

 

James Frain: While he has done a lot and could potentially have more of a role in previous things that he has done, what is worth noting now is that he will be in a movie called The Jester from Transylvania. I still don’t quite understand what Transylvania is. He is also set to be in Escape Room 2. That could be something that I want to see in the future.

 

The Jester from Transylvania: This has a release year of 2020. It says Italy so might not be in this country. It also doesn’t have a plot mentioned, but it is likely about a jester from Transylvania. Who this jester is and what he or she does that’s important does not seem to be known about the movie yet at this point in time. Maybe I will at some point. This does not appear to be out yet, but for some reason is still mentioned as coming out last year. I will keep this in the updates for now until I know more for sure what is happening with it.

 

Escape Room 2: This is a sequel to a previous movie. It is set to be out on January 7, 2022. I have not yet seen the first movie, but will probably wait to see it until after I have seen this one. It may sound odd, but that’s the current plan. I won’t say any more about this just yet as there can be more revealed in due time. I might like this. We’ll see.

 

Robert Doherty: He is working on something, but I can’t quite understand the name of it right now. It is called Alive II. Maybe I’ll understand more of it once more info on it comes out in the future. He does not seem to have any other projects in the works right now.

 

Alive II: This is a TV movie. Its airdate is currently unknown. Someone is resurrected mysteriously and this man or woman is a cop. I guess that we’ll see what happens with this project later. Also note that Alive II might be the title and make more sense regarding the bringing someone back from the dead angle. Doesn’t this sound a lot like FOX’s Second Chance from not too long ago?

 

Emily Procter: She hasn’t done much since CSI: Miami ended. She is a mom so I don’t know if that means she’d be acting less. Maybe she’ll do something at some point. But I don’t see anything that she’s doing just yet. Maybe I’ll see more later.

 

Khandi Alexander: While she still acts some, as recently as 2019, I couldn’t find anything of hers that was major that she’s doing right now. The most recent thing that she did was a two parter on SEAL Team. I hope to see more of her in the future.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings review

In my quest to fill enough of the random posts for the future, I’ve decided to review all three Lord of the Rings movies. I could review the books as well, but I won’t. I also plan to review The Hobbit movies as well and could cover the animated versions if I wanted to. I will review the extended editions some other time and also do recaps of Denethor’s role in the movies, covering both the regular and the extended editions as well. Now let’s get to this movie.

We begin with the story of the rings. Three were given to elves, seven to dwarfs, and nine to men. But another ring was made to rule the others. The free lands fell to the ring, but were met with a resistance. They fought in Mordor for freedom. They were doing well, but Sauron, the dark lord, used the strength of the ring to turn the tide. Only he was defeated by Isealdor. He had the chance to destroy evil, but kept the ring of power which had a will of its own. The ring got Isealdor killed.

After a long time, Gollum got the ring and took it to a cave. Gollum got long life because of it, but the ring abandoned Gollum and was then picked up by Bilbo. The story then jumps ahead 60 years into the future where we see Frodo waiting for a wizard who seems to be late. This wizard is named Gandalf. He talks about the world outside of The Shire.

A party is going to happen with most of the people in the Shire invited or showing up anyways. People don’t seem to like Gandalf as a result at least in regards to what he did with Bilbo. Frodo leaves before Gandalf arrives to talk to Biblo. Gandalf reveals that Frodo suspects something will happen regarding Bilbo. Bilbo admits that he doesn’t plan to return. Later, the hobbit and the wizard smoke some.

The party happens next with Sam, a friend of Frodo, not wanting to ask Rosie for a dance yet. Bilbo talks some about his adventures while talking about the trolls that were turned into stone. Two hobbits, revealed to be Merry and Pippin, light up a firework that looks like a dragon, causing panic for a moment before it blows up. Gandalf notices them.

Bilbo gives a speech which doesn’t last that long and he puts on a ring that turns him invisible, which he then takes to his home at Bag End. Gandalf is there waiting for him to talk to him about this. He talks about the magical rings of this world. He takes out the ring and wonders why he shouldn’t keep it. But it is hard to leave it behind. Bilbo snaps at Gandalf regarding the ring. Gandalf just wants to help. They make amends. Bilbo says that the ring must go to Frodo.

Right before leaving, Gandalf reminds Bilbo that Bilbo still has the ring. Bilbo drops it on the ground and leaves it there. He talks about creating an ending to his book now. “And they lived happily ever after until the end of their days.” Bilbo leaves for Riverdale. Gandalf goes back inside to contemplate the ring. Frodo shows up and grabs the ring from the ground. Gandalf says that Bilbo went to stay with the elves and Frodo has Bag End. The ring is put in an envelope with Frodo being told to keep it secret and safe. Gandalf goes out to research more about the ring.

A shriek is heard of “Baggins! Shire!” Riders in black ride out from a tower. Gandalf reads some about this ring and learns that only fire can reveal what the one ring says. A rider asks about Baggins and is told to go to Hobbiton.

Arriving at Bag End at night, Gandalf asks if the ring is secret and safe. He puts the envelope in the fire and the ring survives this. Frodo sees the writing on the ring. This confirms that it is the one ring. Frodo was convinced that Sauron was destroyed, but Gandalf is convinced that it couldn’t be so as long as the ring still exists. Sauron must never find the ring. But they can’t keep it hidden as Gollum knew about the ring and has sent the forces of Mordor after him. The ring can’t stay in the Shire. He must leave quickly for Bree with the ring to wait for Gandalf at the inn of the Prancing Pony. Gandalf seeks to find the head of his order first. He finds that Sam was eavesdropping so Sam joins Frodo on this quest.

Gandalf then parts ways with the hobbits as they go across the country, not sticking to main roads, wanting to keep the ring safe from Sauron by making sure that he doesn’t get it since the ring wants to be found. Gandalf rides to Isengard to seek the council of Sarumon. While there, we learn that Sarumon is using a planthea or lost seeing stone, not knowing who else is watching. But Sarumon prevents his fellow wizard from leaving this tower. Sarumon wants Gandalf to join him and the two fight. This leads to Gandalf being sent to the top of the tower.

Meanwhile, in a field back in the Shire, Frodo and Sam are greeted by Merry and Pippin. The others have been stealing from Farmer Maggot’s crops. They fall out of the field with some of the stolen crops as they find their way to a road. While there, Frodo is concerned that they should get off the road. The four of them all hide behind a tree. This is when one of the ring wraiths, disguised as a rider in black, seeks them out. But a distraction gets rid of him while Sam prevents Frodo from putting on the ring.

When it turns to nighttime, the hobbits are still on the run from the black rider. Merry takes them to the buckleberry ferry. All four of the hobbits are able to get on the ferry with the rider joining others. We then lose two chapters of the book and don’t get to our only encounter with Tom Bombadil.

They arrive at Bree quickly as a result. There is talk of strange folk about. They get into the town and into the inn. Frodo calls himself Underhill and not Baggins as he was told to leave that name behind. They do not find Gandalf here as the owner hasn’t seen the wizard for months. The hobbits decide to wait for Gandalf in the meantime. A man named Strider is watching them.

Pippin foolishly reveals that Frodo is a Baggins. This causes the ring to fall right on Frodo’s finger, causing him to stay in the ring world for a bit. This is where Strider comes in with Frodo after the ring is off and Frodo can be seen again. The riders are coming, now knowing of where Frodo is. They even magically kill a person just by knocking down a door so quickly that the person disappears too.

It seems at first that the ring wraiths are successful, but they feel for a decoy as Strider took the hobbits to where they would be safe. Strider takes them into the wild and takes them into the wild. He is taking them to Rivendale.

Sarumon is told to build an army and he rips down tress to do it. Gandalf is still alive, for now. We then get to the watchtower where they rest for the night. Strider takes a look around and gives the hobbits weapons that he somehow had on him, but hadn’t given to them before. The hobbits light a fire to eat food, but Frodo wants it put out. Their position has been revealed as the ring wraiths, also known as Nazgul, show up. The hobbits are easily overpowered with Frodo putting on the ring by choice this time and not by accident. But he doesn’t like being drawn into this. Frodo is stabbed when Strider shows up again to save them, with Frodo taking the ring back off.

Frodo needs Elvish medicine, but Sam says that they are still six days from Rivendale. Meanwhile, we see a moth show up to Gandalf with him using the moth to ask for help. The orcs in the meantime build weapons and somehow make other orcs.

While at Bilbo’s trolls, Sam is sent to look for a ring when a woman finds the group. This she elf takes Frodo on her horse away from the others at her insistence since she’s a faster rider. All she has to do is make it across the river. Maybe she should go down to the river to pray, talking about them good old days when who should say… “Adam! Get back to the recap!”

I think that she’s able to do this and have more of an important role in the movie than she did in the book. It was just a random guy who did this in the book, I believe. It is hard to remember. It seems that Frodo might be near death. But the Nazgul appear to be defeated for now.

Frodo is revealed to be okay as is Gandalf as they talk to each other about being in the house of Elrond. We learn that Gandalf was able to fly on an eagle out of that place, not accepting the offer as the dark lord does not share power. Sam shows up and Frodo reunites with his hobbit friends and even sees Bilbo again. Bilbo finished writing his book about his adventure with the dragon. Bilbo would have liked to do that again, but his old age has prevented him from going on other adventures.

Sam is packed already and wants to go home with the ring being as far as it is already. They think that this is a safe place for the ring. Gandalf and Elrond talk about Frodo bearing a resistance to the evil of the ring. Sarumon is breeding goblins and orcs into a new set of creatures that can move in sunlight. Elrond does not think that dwarfs will help them. Gandalf thinks that men will find the help of this world. But Elrond doesn’t think that it would work based on the fact that Isealdor did not destroy the ring when given the chance. Why Elrond let him walk away without simply taking the ring and throwing it into the fire himself remains unknown.

They talk about Strider, the heir of Isealdor, who is living in exile without reclaiming the throne that he rightfully has claimed in Gondor. Others come to Riverdale to discuss the ring. Strider talks to the elf woman, Arwen, about his fate. She wants to be mortal to be with him, giving him the Evening Star.

The races of Middle Earth talk about what to do about Mordor and how to overcome the evil. The ring is put out in front of everyone. A man, the son of the Steward of Gondor, wants the ring for himself to use against the enemies. But Strider, the ranger who is revealed to be Aragon, warns that no one can use the ring. Legolas, an elf, talks some to Boramir. Boramir thinks that Gondor works better without a king, not needing one.

Elrond knows that the ring must be destroyed and a dwarf named Gimli wants to do it and tries with an ax, but the ring can only be destroyed in the fires of Mordor. After some fighting amongst the people there, it is Frodo who decides to take the ring to Mordor. Gandalf joins in as does Legolas, Gimli, Aragon, and Boramir. The three hobbits join as you need people of intelligence on his mission, quest, thing.

Bilbo gives his old sword to Frodo and mythrill. Bilbo wants the ring back, wanting to hold it one last time and gets evil looking when denied, before regaining his senses. Meanwhile, the nine leave from Rivendale to go 40 days to the gap of Rohan which could still be open to them. Gimli doesn’t like this idea and thinks that they should go through the mines of Moria. But Gandalf is reluctant.

Spies of Sarumon in the form of some sort of flying creatures reveal that the path is being watched so they try to climb a mountain instead. Boramir tries to take the ring from Frodo, but Aragorn makes him give it back. The spies return and reveal the information to Sarumon. Will the mountain defeat them? We see them struggle as a voice in the air of Sarumon tries to take down the mountain. There is still much fighting over which route to take. Moria is too dangerous as the dwarves dug too deep and found a creature of shadow and flame. Frodo decides to take them through the mines that they somehow are able to get to instantly and safely, it seems.

At the entrance to the mine, Gandalf is unsure how to open the door. He thinks that it is a password of some sort. They can’t take the horse with them even though I’m not sure it was on the mountain at all nor how it could have been there. Frodo realizes that a riddle needs to be solved. The company seeks to go inside and through it. Gimli is happy at first since his cousin Bali lives here. But they find a bunch of dead bodies at the entrance and seek to turn around. However, a creature in the water seeks to kill Frodo and they have to go back into the mines for shelter. Once back in there, the entrance is shut with them left with no other choice but to continue through the mines.

It will take four days to get to the other side and they need to do this without being detected. They get a bit lost with Gandalf unsure where to go. Frodo then notices that Gollum is following them. Gandalf says that it has been happening for the last three days. How could he have gotten in through the cave in and not be noticed? This impossible tail is something that I have a hard time believing. Considering how we are lead to believe that it happens the rest of the movie, with Gollum even getting across the bridge is just something that I have a hard time believing.

The company finds their way to where his now dead cousin is buried. Gandalf reads a book about this person’s last moments. Pippin accidently knocks a body down a hole. Orcs are then noticed as being here. Gimli wants a fight to avenge the dead. A cave troll pops up here. Frodo is stabbed by the troll. But the combined forces of the others are able to take out the troll. Frodo survives because of his mythrill armor. Gandalf wants them to go to a bridge. While doing there, a whole bunch of orcs surround them leaving them outnumbered. But the orcs run away at the sound of a Belrog.

Since this Balrog is too powerful for any of them (or so we are lead to believe), the company runs away from them. They approach a stair with a gap in them. Gimli doesn’t want tossed, but then his beard has to be grabbed in order to prevent him from falling. The gap in the stairs increases, but more damage to it gets the rest of the company down with the others. This part of the movie is simply described in the script to this day as the company runs down the stairs.

The Belrog meets up with the fellowship with Gandalf holding him off. Gandalf is able to make the Belrog fall down to the gap below the bridge, but the Belrog is able to take the wizard with him. The rest of them are still under fire by orcs as they get out of there. The actors then reacts to Gandalf’s death before Ian McKellan, who plays Gandalf, had even worked on the film.

Aragorn insists that they keep going to stay away from the potential orcs that will be there quickly. The company continues into Lothlorian. Gimli warns of an elf enchantress who is there. Other elves come and point arrows at the company, only to escort them into the realm. Frodo heard a voice while he was here at this place.

The fellowship spends time there in Lothlorian. They talk to the group of elves that are there as they learn of what happened to Gandalf. Aragon and Boramir talk some to each other about some of what Boramir feels in regards to Gondor. Meanwhile, Frodo is shown an image in a mirror of what would happen in the future should the quest fail. He is warned that the fellowship is breaking, with someone set to take the ring and it is said to drive them apart. He is told of what issues the ring could have after trying to give it away.

Meanwhile, Sarumon tells a company of orcs to find the ring and bring the hobbit that has the ring of power. The orcs run to meet where the company will be. Frodo gets a special light from the elves as they leave the place and travel by boat to their next destination.

The company rests on one side of the river with the warning that a company of orcs are on the other side of the shore that they will need to be on at some point. Legolas is worried and thinks that they should leave immediately. Frodo was out on his own. He talks to Boramir. Boramir then acts crazy as the power of the ring draws to him. Boramir tries to take the ring again, forcing Frodo to use it to escape with Boramir still going on a rant about how things will go badly. Boramir quickly realizes where he went wrong and tries to apologize.

After being crept out by the eye again, Frodo takes the ring back off. He talks to Aragorn for a while and is told to run once orcs show up. The company is separated from each other into many groups. Frodo gets help from Merry and Pippin with the orcs chasing after the wrong hobbits unknowingly. They wind up with Boramir who uses his horn to call for help. Boramir winds up shot with arrows, but keeps up the fight against the other orcs. Merry and Pippin try to help, but are taken by the orcs.

Aragorn arrives and takes out the orc who attacked Boramir. They are able to have parting words before Boramir dies. Meanwhile, Frodo tries to leave for Mordor alone with Sam wanting to join his friend. Frodo decides to let Sam join him. Sam promised not to leave Frodo. Boramir is shown a farewell with his body being sent off in a boat down the waterfall.

While Legolas wants to follow Frodo and Sam, Aragorn doesn’t want to follow them. Gimli thinks that the fellowship has failed, but Aragorn thinks that there is still some hope left for them. He, Legolas, and Gimli, seek to go after Merry and Pippin, not wanting them left to torture. Frodo and Sam think that the others will find their way by themselves. Here, part one of the three part movie series ends.

I do like this movie, even if I think that it is a weak spot in the whole trilogy. It is good on its own, but the rest of the movies in the series keep getting better after it. It lacks the epic battles that we see in some of the other movies. But it is a strong start to the series. Not much is changed from the books, outside of both taking out Tom Bombadill and moving Boramir’s death in this movie instead of the beginning of the next one. We don’t lose much that we get in the extended edition that I plan to get to later. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Cast Update 4-8-2021

Something major will be changing with this blog. You see, I have this cheat that I have. When there is an unused offering envelope from a previous year, I have to update a blog on a specific date when it appears again. There are two potential dates since I write the month of the tithe that I’m giving away and the specific date of the offering itself are both the dates given. There also can’t be any overlap.

During shelter in place last year, there were a lot of offerings not given away as I gave more later to make up for this. The cheat will be moving to this blog on the last Monday of the month due to another rule that states that specific updates of this blog that aren’t cast updates must be done of specific dates as well. Thus, when the two overlap, I will have to put the cheats in this blog until it doesn’t apply anymore. This will move it to any blog of mine that I want after it if I decide that the cheat can apply to this blog.

Jonny Lee Miller: It seems that he currently has only one project that I know of in the work. It is a movie called Nine Lives. I’ll keep track of anything else that I see him doing in the future. He also appears to be in a movie called Settlers. Another movie that he will appear in is Alice.

Nine Lives: This doesn’t have a release date or a trailer just yet. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with cats. It’s a science fiction movie about a team of humans having to work with clones (I think) all in outer space somewhere for some reason.

Settlers: This is set for release in 2021. I’m not entirely sure that this isn’t the same movie as the previous one and imdb is confused. I will keep this as separate for now as I’m not sure what’s happening with this just yet at this point in time. I have no idea what is going on with this project right now as I can’t tell if it is out yet or not.

Alice: This has an unknown release date right now. This could be a horror film or might be based on reality. A slave escapes only to find a shocking discovery nearby. I’d have to see a trailer to know for sure what genre this might be. Only there’s none yet and it could reveal more to this film that I’d want to know. Guess that I’ll have to wait for now.

Lucy Liu: I saw based on promos that she is in a show known as Why Women Kill. It turns out that she will also be in other projects. One is called The Last Weekend in May. I have no idea when that last project would be set for. Another thing that she will be in is called (at least for now) Untitled Workplace Comedy that I hope gets a name soon in the future.

Why Women Kill: This is a CBS all access series that is available already. I can pretty much guess based on the title what this might be about. I probably won’t be able to watch it unless I can see it for free at some point in the future.

The Last Weekend in May: There is no release date for this yet. There also isn’t a trailer or even a plot. If I had to guess, a significant point of this movie relates to the end of the month of May. That might even be a good time to release this movie if they wanted to. If June 1^st is a Sunday, then which weekend would the last one in May be? I don’t see this on imdb anymore.

Untitled Workplace Comedy: This is set to air on ABC. The release date is currently unknown as of this time. I don’t quite understand the plot as currently written on imdb as it seems poorly phrased in some places. Best I can understand, a diva boss changes who she is after an adoption with her assistant becoming a mentor. I just hope that this doesn’t burn off during the summer. We’ll see what becomes of it later as things move along.

Aidan Quinn: I thought that given his limited role in the final season of Elementary that we might be seeing less of him. Well, it turns out that I was wrong. He will be doing different things. For one, he will be part of the movie Butterfly in the Typewriter that Desmond Harrington will also be in. He will also be in a miniseries called The American Guest. He’ll also be in The Gettysburg Address, which I find unlikely since that already happened in the 1860s. He’ll also be in Spiked.

Butterfly in the Typewriter: From what I understand of the plot, an author struggles to bring a story to life in this movie. I don’t know yet if it is based on a true story. It could be very Meta if you know what that means. It has no release date yet.

The American Guest: This is a miniseries that will air sometime in 2019. It might be international, which means that I might not be able to see it as a result. The plot is unknown as this time, but a potential spoiler about it relates to the role Aidan plays in it: that of Teddy Roosevelt. I have no idea if this is out now somehow or not.

The Gettysburg Address: Apparently they are going to milk the whole address into a movie. This seems like a weird choice since Lincoln himself in the address said that people will little remember what they say today. There is no release date yet for this.

Spiked: This has a DVD release timeframe of May 25, 2021. The plot is about issues relating to a small town murder and the feud between a police chief and journalist in that town. It could be interesting, but cliché. This will be on the USA Network. It could be good if I see it. It is based on a true story. Here’s a trailer for it:

Thoughts on trailer: It is hard to gather as much from the trailer as I would like, but it does seem to be an interesting looking movie. I look forward to potentially seeing this and can only hope that this is interesting despite the trailer not being that detailed.

Jon Michael Hill: While he might do something after the show in good time, there is nothing that I see him doing right now as of yet. I will keep this section phrased like this until he does something that is worth putting down in here.

John Noble: He has a lot of projects in the work, so I might as well get to mentioning all of them. One is called Silencio. Another is called Nameless. A different one is called Stream. Yet another is called Guardians of Luna. I wonder if they’ll all get made. He’s also in something new called Call Waiting. Yet another thing he appears to be in is Home Invasion. I wonder what all he’ll show up in randomly.

Silencio: This was in Mexican and not American theaters. It has a plot mentioned of someone looking for a powerful stone. It has a DVD release time frame of November 2021. I hope to review it when it is out on DVD. It might only be on blu ray and not DVD.

Nameless: This could be interesting. It has no release date or trailer just yet. The plot relates to lost souls facing struggles with their past. It seems like it could be a good film, but it is hard to tell or know yet for sure. It seems like it could be good.

Stream: In this movie, telepathy is made possible, but it could have unforeseen outcomes. This seems like a possible basic premise for Downsizing with a different element of sci-fi used instead. There is not yet a trailer and there’s no release date yet. It only lists his role as rumored, so the movie could wind up happening, but not have him in it.

Guardians of Luna: This plot might be hard to keep track of. So there are werewolves that are part of a cursed town and there’s a war on humans potentially. It has no release date yet nor a trailer. But it does sound pretty interesting.

Call Waiting: This is has no plot listed yet. It’s year of release is unknown at the time. I guess that we will find out later what will happen with this and what the plot of this short might be. Until then, I guess we’ll just wait and see what will happen with it.

Home Invasion: This TV series has little that imdb is revealing thus far. I don’t know what network it would be on. I just know that it will have at least six episodes. It has no release date right now. I must not know a potential plot yet. Check out my facebook group, Firefly: Where are They Now? This might have more updates on this in question since Morena Baccarin is in this as well. Hopefully, something will come of this.

Who this jester is and what he or she does that’s important does not seem to be known about the movie yet at this point in time. Maybe I will at some point. This does not appear to be out yet, but for some reason is still mentioned as coming out last year. I will keep this in the updates for now until I know more for sure what is happening with it.

Escape Room 2: This is a sequel to a previous movie. It is set to be out on January 7, 2022. I have not yet seen the first movie, but will probably wait to see it until after I have seen this one. It may sound odd, but that’s the current plan. I won’t say any more about this just yet as there can be more revealed in due time. I might like this. We’ll see.

Robert Doherty: He is working on something, but I can’t quite understand the name of it right now. It is called Alive II. Maybe I’ll understand more of it once more info on it comes out in the future. He does not seem to have any other projects in the works right now.

Alive II: This is a TV movie. Its airdate is currently unknown. Someone is resurrected mysteriously and this man or woman is a cop. I guess that we’ll see what happens with this project later. Also note that Alive II might be the title and make more sense regarding the bringing someone back from the dead angle. Doesn’t this sound a lot like FOX’s Second Chance from not too long ago?

Emily Procter: She hasn’t done much since CSI: Miami ended. She is a mom so I don’t know if that means she’d be acting less. Maybe she’ll do something at some point. But I don’t see anything that she’s doing just yet. Maybe I’ll see more later.

Khandi Alexander: While she still acts some, as recently as 2019, I couldn’t find anything of hers that was major that she’s doing right now. The most recent thing that she did was a two parter on SEAL Team. I hope to see more of her in the future.

Cast Update 3-8-2021

There is not much to say in these introductions of mine as I seek to find some way to put something of interest in here time and time again. I should have told you that I started reading the book One for the Money since I finished reading The Sentinels: A Distant Star. I’ve been reading ahead on two other books that aren’t in the rotation now, but should be again at some point in the future. I should have an important announcement in the next post about a change coming this way. You’ll have to wait and see what it is.

Here is a paragraph worth putting in multiple blogs. You see, I started putting a calendar in my Survivor blog full of the planned posts of all of my blogs that month. Thus, if you want to know when I plan to post an update for any of my 7 blogs, check out one on an episode of Survivor and it should be near the end of the episode in question. The plan might not happen and does have a lot of unknowns in it over time. But I thought that I would tell you this in case you did not already know of this in the present.
